2003 Ford Three Quarter ton with full independence capability --premium VMI brand lowered floor conversion--WORLDS BEST LIFT
MILES 25,000 (total, actual miles) (and such easy miles, this van still has some new-car smell remaining)
Price: Mid $23,900

General Description
Began as a 3/4 ton (hard to find as a personal use wheelchair van) standard length (not long or short) with famously super 5.4 liter "Triton" motor. Has full power and convenience features such as: windows and locks and mirrors; tilt wheel and cruise control; rear ventilation; factory alloys; CD stereo; fancy chrome bumpers; and more

Goodies
As part of its conversion by an industry-leader, VMI, this van received an extensive package (named "Liberty") of comfort, convenience and functional items, such as: strong, functional side steps and wheel flares; tow package (possibly never used); HD alloys; fancy graphics and exterior trim; real wood interior trim; multiple-choice interior lighting; overhead console; rear bench that power folds to a bed; and more

Mobility and Adaptive Features
When the leading, nationally-known, full size wheelchair van convertor (VMI) designs and creates a full size wheelchair van, they hold nothing back. When comparing this van to the 80%-90% that are built by independent shops, there is no question that this van is superior, in many ways. When you closely consider this van, it shines in regards to function and cosmetics. As for its extensive mobility features, here is the primary list:

* Power opening side sliding door

* Braun UVL (under vehicle lift), which is the absolute best of the best of wheelchair lifts. These lifts are in less than 10% of all vans, which is due primarily to the fact that they are so darn costly....apx $12,000 installed price ! This unique style of lift creates no door blockage, has a long/wide platform, usually very limited or no rattles, capacity of 800 pounds (most lifts in personal use vans are 600). I get calls and mail from folks who say they will only buy a van with one of these lifts in it. As a result, there are people who have waited a couple of years to find a very nice, super low mile wheelchair van with this lift, in this price range.

* Very lowered floor, which goes all the way from directly in front of the rear seat, to below the dash, on both sides! Few vans have this design. Its amazing how much difference the entry clearance and interior headroom is increased by this feature. When looking at the depth of the ledge in front of the rear seat, it may not seem like its lowered very much, but it results in HUGE benefits to users. For one thing, it allows enough space under the steering wheel if a person wants/needs to drive from their wheelchair. And of course, it makes the side entry overhead clearance and interior headroom sufficient for most people and their wheelchairs.

* NEW FLOOR IS A SUPER ENHANCEMENT: a puzzle in the nearly 9 years I have specialized in rejuvenating and improving wheelchair vans, is that I wonder why more wheelchair van creators and owners don't have such a feature as is now being added to this van. Although most folks tend to think of a floor in a van as being flat and level from the factory, it is actually far from it, and that results in a terrible surface to move a wheelchair van on. You see, under the factory carpet in a common van, there is a thick carpet pad and under that is, to one degree or another, a lumpy, bumpy, uneven metal floor surface. And in the case of most vans that are turned into a wheelchair van, there are also remnants from seats being removed, such as holes, tracks, mounting plates, etc. All of what I describe here results in a surface that is not nice to maneuver a wheelchair on. And there are misc unpleasant elements to live with. The diameter of wheels on most wheelchairs help to overcome these facts, but the usual floors are far from ideal. And so we solve that here. In the area that the chair/s will be moving, a specialist removes whatever materials are above the metal floor surface. And then they install quality plywood over the metal, to create a smooth, solid, level surface. (plus the floor becomes quieter) And then a nice material is put over the wood for cosmetic benefit. In this van, we used high-grade vinyl flooring material that is designed for being used in wheelchair vans. Once you have maneuvered your wheelchair on a floor like this, you would never want anything less.

* Incredibly well designed quick-release front seat mechanisms. It only takes a minute to get either of them in or out, if desired or needed.

* Has switch controls for power slider and lift on dash, by door and near rear taillight.

* Various anchor points in the floor, for utilizing anchor straps

* Includes 4 anchor straps for securing wheelchair

* Wireless remote control to operate the power slider and lift.

Note: this may have wireless remote control to operate the power slider and lift. This is yet to be determined.

Very sharp van, even with much rejuvenation remaining to be done when these photos were taken

So nice to have no blockage of doorway when the lift is stowed

Smooth going in and out, as the lift is nice and level with the floor

Rear seat folds flat

This ledge indicates the deeply lowered floor, which creates the nice entry clearance and interior headroom

both front seat can be easily removed in a couple of minutes

Nice, sweet, attractive

Power drivers seat
Summary

This is an incredibly rare van. Not only for its amazingly low miles and one owner history, but because it has the full independence features (some folks in wheelchair can use with no assistance) that fewer than 10% of all full size wheelchair vans have. Plus, its been taken super care of...and the list of wonderful facts goes on and on. This one is a super gem!

NOTE: I am always searching for more vans which are a nice addition to the mix of vans we have to offer. I will post initial information here about each van as I purchase, transform, and then make them available for sale. From the time I purchase a van until my transformation process is completed, averages approximately 4-6 weeks.

Dear Rick... I want to take this time to let you know how excited I am about the 95 Ford camping van that I bought from you. I just love it!! I truly appreciated your kindness, patience and understanding throughout the whole process. I also appreciate the quality of the van. You were nothing like those typical car salesman. You were friendly, cheerful and not pushy....and still gave me a great deal!!! I will certainly send folks your way.

Thanks again!
