Note, as you may not be aware: Scion is a brand within the Toyota family. (Lexus is also within the Toyota Family). This scion shares much of the same parts and pieces as some Toyota models. For example, this motor is the same as was in the Toyota Camry for many years.

Fun color, what's it called?
Toyota refers to this modern-Aesthetic color as...Army Rock

General Description
Well equipped with power features such as windows, locks and mirrors. Plus tilt/telescope wheel, cruise control, factory installed Pioneer brand CD stereo with accessory jack, multi-function info-computer, etcetera. Has the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder (same as Camry had for many years) and 5 speed manual Transmission. (If you need an automatic, sorry this is not the car for you) If you want a wheelchair-access vehicle that would be fair to refer to as "sporty", this Scion is it! Part of the sportiness, drivability (IE: much more control on snow and ice) and fun is the result of being a manual transmission. Plus, this Scion has the brand-new package of features we refer to as, Sporty-Mobility.

Brand new Sporty-Mobility package
occasionally over the years we have wheelchair access vehicles that we fee warrant adding custom features to, in order to make them one-of-a-kind and extra special. To this Scion we have now added the following, brand new, sporty features: custom two-tone paint on the lower body all the way around; custom 17-inch tires and wheels; color-matched spoiler on rear hatch. It also has sport-tuned exhaust, which it had when we acquired it.

Mobility and Adaptive Features
when new this Scion received a mobility conversion by one of the national-scale companies that creates wheelchair access vehicles. Their name is Freedom Motors. They have been thriving for several decades, converting mostly vans, but also some other types of vehicles such, as this crossover/SUV. Below are the primary features of this conversion:

* Lowered floor in passenger side area: this area creates enough space for all but large wheelchairs. As you see in the photos, it accommodates a power wheelchair suitable for me (6-1 and 300 pounds). There is also enough headroom for me, at 6-1, with a couple of inches free space above my head.

* Manual ramp/loading platform: ingeniously designed, enables navigating the wheelchair in and out pretty easily. Heavy duty, easily handling me in the power chair you see in the photos (combined weight over 500 pounds)

* Anchor point locations: there will be 4 anchor points included. They accommodate anchor straps for securing the wheelchair.

* Anchor straps: will Include 4 quality, easy to use anchor straps

Summary
Most people who need a wheelchair access vehicle assume that they must choose between a full-size van or a minivan. And in the process that person and their family believe they must accept that the days of owning a fun, sporty, aesthetically modern, or cool vehicle are...gone! This Scion defies that reality entirely. Plus, it has low miles and will be in our usual "Certified" level of condition, having undergone extensive cosmetic and functional rejuvenation, in order to reach the "Certified" level.

Status

Rejuvenation has begun: I have recently acquired this van and the extensive rejuvenation process has begun, which is carried-out by various professional shops and specialists. If you are interested in securing this van for your future purchase (many of my vans are spoken for in this way prior to completion of rejuvenation) please feel free to call or mail me with any questions

NOTE: I am always searching for more vans which are a nice addition to the mix of vans we have to offer. I will post initial information here about each van as I purchase, transform, and then make them available for sale. From the time I purchase a van until my transformation process is completed, averages approximately 4-6 weeks.

Please visit this page periodically.

Thank you,

Rick
