Options and Equipment THE VAN: *** Very notable general info about this 2003 van: this is the first year of many upgrades and a significant "facelift" of GM vans (they were same from 96-02). Improvements include various body and functional changes, including an improved engine, which is a 5.3 "Vortec", upgraded from the 5.0 which earlier years of such vans had. This 2003 van appears and functions nearly the same as a current, brand new one! Actually, the average person would not discern the difference between this and a brand new van, as they are nearly the same! This began as what is called an RV 1500, which my research indicates is what folks in the past would have called a "heavy half ton", which is not as "beefy" as a 3/4, but is a more capable van than a standard 1/2 ton. It is a standard length (not long or short) and began with a nice package of features such as: power windows, locks and mirrors; tilt and cruise control; gauge package; stereo system; etc. And then, as a new van, it was converted by the same company as a couple of the other vans I currently have for sale, which is called an "Explorer" conversion. This company has been in business for about 35 years, and they have been one of the highest quality (and are the largest) van convertors for most of those years. They happen to be one of few such companies which have remained standing and strong after the deep recession and various market changes. *** A notable feature: 2003 is the first year in several decades that ANY full size van has passenger access doors on the DRIVERS side available. It became an option in 2003 on this new body style of GMC and Chevy full size vans. And this van has this awesome option! (see photos). Imagine the comfort, convenience and flexibility this feature can add to your life when using a full size wheelchair van. Please read below about the fancy "Explorer" conversion...
GOODIES: When new, this was converted into a very sporty, super fancy van with a very long list of goodies, some are functional and some cosmetic. Here is a list of the primary features of the conversion: moderately tall, nicely contoured roof; sporty and sharp graphics and accents; contoured and "hidden" fiberglass running boards with wheel opening flares; large custom windows with vents and custom shades; Backup sonar system in the rear bumper; four (2 in front and 2 in far rear) luxurious and very adjustable leather captains seats; super quality and very extensive rear audio/video system with 22 inch TV (WoW) and 4 separate audio/video players; is designed to accommodate Play-station gaming system; many various bins and storage; ice-box between front seats; extensive and versatile custom interior lighting; beautiful, high quality, very upgraded 18 inch chrome wheels with nearly new quality tires; extensive interior and exterior custom appearance and functional features; and much more. Please look closely at the photos and read the captions, this is an amazing van! MOBILITY: * Has a quality lift by one the lift industry leader, Braun. It was installed in apx. 2005 and has had VERY little use, and so it looks nearly brand new. This lift has a very desirable and helpful feature which is what is generally referred to as an "automatic bi-folding platform". Just push a button and it folds out of the way creating access space. This folding feature allows for an able-bodied person to go in and out of the lift side of the van, when the lift is stowed. * includes an EZ-Lock electronic docking station for a wheelchair, which also is in nearly brand new condition. This system is the "cats-pajamas' for folks who want safe, secure, fast and easy loading and unloading of the wheelchair person. When the process has been done to mate your wheelchair to this device, it only takes a matter of seconds to secure, or release, the wheelchair. Please ask for details if you are not familiar. * Has smooth, solid flooring system with special commercial carpet, which is super for wheelchair use. This upgraded floor is very similar to several vans currently offered on my website. Dimensions, capacity and specifications:Please feel free to email or call me with any such questions. I will gladly assist with anything you wish to know. I have discovered that due to the unique way each person evaluates, measures and expresses their needs, I can be most helpful regarding this subject if we communicate directly.
History of Ownership The first owner had if for only about 8 months, and since then it has been owned by the second owner. They traded it locally, toward the purchase of a new vehicle.

various elements
which exceed the
promised level of good, or Note: during its life, this van had received such wonderful care and service (some very recent) there was a pretty short list of current recommendations following the thorough inspection process. Carfax Report
Summary Nothing notably negative or unusual: no frame damage...no airbags deployed...no structural damage...no "red marks"...no major accident.
You Might Like To Know... * Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars. * As you may have read above, this is the first year of major changes since 1996, not only in styling, but also regarding various functional and mechanical improvements. I suppose the biggest change is the available, optional drivers side "barn doors". Very notably, drivers side entry doors for access to mid and rear area has not been available on ANY full size vans in decades. This feature is extra-helpful for a wheelchair van and the folks who use them. Summary of this Gem The pictures and captions on this one show and say so much. I suppose if this van were 20 feet away from a brand new one, most folks could not tell which one was new and which was 10 years old. This one is that nice, and its the same style (virtually no change) as a new 2013 ! |
