THE VAN:

Has the engine most common to Caravans which is a 3.3 (smallish 6 cylinder) and it has the automatic with overdrive. This began as a special and uncommon model called a "Sport", which includes various appearance and functional features that make it more appealing than the more common models, such as: stylish rear deck spoiler; 16 inch sport alloy wheels; special interior and exterior trim features; adjustable roof rack; integrated fog lights; etc. It also has common power and convenience features, such as: power windows, locks and mirrors; tilt wheel and cruise control. It also has several desirable options such as: power drivers seat; overhead console with features such as....MPG, distance to empty, direction, temperature, etc; rear ventilation; very upgraded "Infinity" CD stereo system with extra speakers, amplifier, equalizer, etc.

BOTTOM LINE...this is an unusually sharp-looking, highly-featured wheelchair van

MOBILITY When new, this van received a complete mobility conversion by IMS (independent mobility systems) which is the same company as the industry giant "Braun". The wonderful, extensive, ease-creating package of features includes all of this:

* Power ramp out passenger side door. Ramp is plenty long and wide, allowing for nearly any wheelchair and even large people to go in and out.

* Power sliding passenger side door. This operates along with the ramp and the "kneeling " suspension in unison.

* "Kneeling" suspension. This helpful feature causes the van to lower several inches in the rear, which notably reduces the degrees of angle of the ramp, and makes going in and out smoother, easier and safer. Note: a switch allows turning this feature off, if you don't want to use it, such as for loading direct on or off of a curb or sidewalk.

* TURNING SEAT: this is a critically valuable feature for some folks who want or need to transfer in and out of their wheelchair in order to drive from the original seat. This allow the seat to turn apx 100 degrees, plus it has an extreme range of fore/aft travel, which aids when transferring. Such a seat system has a new, installed price of apx $4,500!

* Easily removable front passenger seat. Just flip a lever and remove or install.

* Many locations for inserting anchor straps in the floor, for securing wheelchair.

* Mobility conversion functions can be operated either with a switch on the outside panel of the body, or via switches in multiple locations inside.

This vehicle is 'CERTIFIED': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis Certification process. A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists. The result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects meets or exceeds the condition level of good, or satisfactory.

Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic. I refer to these as NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS

Here are the new and recent items:

New: door locks repair; lube/oil/filter; clean battery terminals; serpentine belts; power steering flush; water pump; coolant flush; major mobility systems service

Recent: Very valuable note: due to a factory defect, transmission was rebuilt at apx 40,000 miles



Carfax Report Summary

(Carfax is a widely used database which indicates the history of a vehicle including accidents, prior owners, etc.)

Nothing notably negative or unusual: no frame damage...no airbags deployed...no structural damage...no "red marks"...no major accident.

You Might Like To Know...

* Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars.

* Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country and Plymouth voyager are all very closely related cousins and share apx 90% of their parts

Summary of this Gem

This van is very much in what I would call the sweet spot of minivan wheelchair vans. I say this because it meets a certain need in the world for wheelchair vans with each of these elements represented: not too old; not a lot of miles; nice van features; high level of mobility features; price that doesn't break the bank. The bonus on this one is...it's a one-owner van and is the nifty sport model.
