Options and Equipment

THE VAN:

This began as the most highly equipped model of Chrysler corporation van available, which in 1999 was a Town & Country "Limited".  I say this because there are several "cousin" vans: Caravan; Voyager; and Town & Country.  Of those,  this Town & Country is the premium model.  And of the various trim-levels of Town & Country, this "Limited" was the finest available in '99.  Therefore...this is the best of the best...the premium brand and the top model of that brand.  It has a very long list of features, in addition to common power and convenience items: dual sliding doors; leather seats with suede trim; memory buttons for the drivers seat; both front seats are power and heated; wood grain accents; overhead console with computer info such as outside temperature, MPG, and distance to empty; Anti-lock brakes; upgraded 3.8 motor with automatic and overdrive; front and rear ventilation; separate passenger and driver controls for front temperature;  awesome CD sound system by Infinity; fancy interior and exterior trim; optional chrome wheels; and much more...

GOODIES:  Has factory hand-painted pin-stripes.  As mentioned above, the chrome wheels were optional from the factory

MOBILITY:

This was converted when new by one of the two premium makers of lowered floor minivan wheelchair vans, called "Ricon".  And this model is called an "Activan".  This company does extensive research and development and safety testing and as such, they produce a super van with safety, quality fit and finish, reliability, and best-in-class style. Here are the primary features of this wonderful conversion:

* deeply lowered floor which extends from rear seat to dash area

* power sliding passenger side door

* "Kneeling" suspension causes the van (when desired) to lower an extra several inches, which aids in making the ramp angle very easy and shallow.  This kneeling system is the most reliable style (my favorite) which is via a mechanical device, rather than the more common (and less reliable) air-bag system.

* has optional "in-floor" ramp. This is the preferred style of ramp and does not block the doorway when stowed...rather, it disappears under the floor!

* Easily removable front seat assemblies (with wheels for easy moving) allow for parking a wheelchair in either front location...has potential to be driven from wheelchair.

*  Many locations in the floor for installing adjustable wheelchair anchors for securing a wheelchair

History of Ownership

Was used by the original owner until about two years ago, and was owned since then by the folks I acquired it from....therefore, only two total owners

Certified

This vehicle is 'CERTIFIED': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects  included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis "Certification" process.   A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists.   The  result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects  meets  or exceeds the condition level of good, or satisfactory

For details regarding list of 76 cosmetic and mechanical aspects, please click here.

Each van does of course have various elements which exceed the promised level of good, or
satisfactory, which the "Certified" program assures.  Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic.  I refer to these as  "NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS".  As for this vehicle:

New:  Misc seals, gaskets, hoses, etc. on motor; valve cover gaskets;  front and rear main seals (major seals); water pump; set of accessory belts; two motor mounts; major transmission service; rack & pinion steering unit; alignment; wiper blades; service mobility adaptive components; oil and lube

Recent: power steering pump;  heavy-duty Interstate battery

Approximate retail value/cost of above-listed functional/mechanical items: $ 2,500

(extensive investment in cosmetic rejuvenation is in addition to this $2,500)

You Might Like To Know...

* Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars.

* Town & Country vans are a cousin to Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager.  Town & Country is the premium of these 3 and this is the top trim-level available.  Therefore, this was the maximum luxury and features available of any minivan.

Summary of this Gem
