Options and Equipment

THE VAN:

This began as a standard length 1/2 ton XLT with common power and convenience features such as; power windows, locks and mirrors; tilt wheel and cruise control; etc. Plus when it began there were factory options such as: CD stereo; auto with overdrive; upgraded 5.4 liter "triton" motor with O/D trans; etc.

Note: When this was brand new it was sent to two different conversion companies, one for a cruising/touring conversion and the other to receive substantial mobility access modifications.

CRUISING/TOURING CONVERSION: extensive custom striping and side moldings, moderately tall, contoured roof; 3 large windows with screens and vents; power, leather seats in both front locations; cloth rear seat that with power moves for/aft and folds flat into a bed; aluminum running boards; interior storage bins in front and rear of roof.

VERY MAJOR MOBILITY CONVERSION:

* has lowered floor in middle portion of van, which adds 4 inches of entry clearance and interior headroom

* power operated side doors

* power operated Ricon lift with power operated tri-fold platform which allows easy passage for able-bodied folks

*  controls to operate doors and lift on outside body AND dash AND with wireless remote

* multiple floor anchor points

* solid steel middle floor area with new commercial vinyl flooring over it. Fantastic surface to drive wheelchair on

History of Ownership

Ideal history: One owner since new, same address since new, same Ford dealer servicing it since new.

Certified

This vehicle is 'CERTIFIED': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects  included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis "Certification" process.   A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists.   The  result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects  meets  or exceeds the condition level of good, or satisfactory

For details regarding list of 76 cosmetic and mechanical aspects, please click here.

Each van does of course have various elements which exceed the promised level of good, or
satisfactory, which the "Certified" program assures.  Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic.  I refer to these as  "NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS".  As for this vehicle, it was taken such great care of by it owner of the last 10 years (a retired engineer) that it needed less than most vans of this vintage to get it to the "Certified" level. Here are the new and recent items:

New: lube and filter service; parking brake service; major serpentine belt; new taillight assemblies; battery service; service rear differential;

Recent: front brakes; all 4 tires

Approximate retail value/cost of above-listed items: $1,800

 (extensive investment in cosmetic rejuvenation is in addition to this $ 1,800 )

Carfax Report Summary

(Carfax is a widely used database which indicates the history of a vehicle including accidents, prior owners, etc.)

Nothing notably negative or unusual: no frame damage...no airbags deployed...no structural damage...no "red marks"...no major accident.

You Might Like To Know...

* Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars.

* Ford vans have an extremely similar style and design starting in 1993, until apx 2007. Therefore, this gorgeous van appears to the average person to be about 1/2 of its actual vintage.

Summary of this Gem

Many folks are surprised, disappointed and frustrated to discover that most wheelchair vans ARE NOT capable of providing the desired independence a person in a wheelchair seeks. This van is one of those rare vans, plus its sharp and gorgeous too, with excellent low mileage.

Wonderful feature is that the platform folds out of the way, allowing able-bodied folks to easily go in and out when lift is stowed.
