Options and Equipment

THE VAN:

This began is a 1-ton standard length (not long or short) body with nice XLT level of features. As a result it began with common power, convenience and cosmetic features such as: power windows, locks and mirrors; tilt and cruise; chrome bumpers and fancy headlights; misc interior and exterior trim features; much more. This has the famously strong, reliable and reasonably economical 5.4 liter Triton motor with 5 speed automatic for respectable MPG.

GOODIES

Wow, this gleaming dark red van is gorgeous! In addition to the XLT level of features as summarized above, this van had the following items added: fancy factory Ford wheels; dark tinted windows; running boards and entry steps with integrated fender flares

Special feature

has a custom Kenwood brand audio/video system with NAVIGATION, special speakers, and much more to play with.

Conversion Note:

A decades-old company in Northern California called NorCal converted this van when it was brand new, as is their standard process. This company is widely known throughout the west as being a top-level convertor, in every way. You might consider that this van essentially received two conversions, one being cosmetic and the other, most importantly, being its very extensive, hard-to-find and valuable package of mobility features.

MOBILITY

During the nearly 10 years that I have been a dealer of used wheelchair vans, there have been a number of NorCal vans in my inventory and I have seen and experienced many more. I will say that in my opinion this conversion rivals those done by world-leader Braun and surpasses a wonderful east coast company named Rollx. You see, in this industry I see conversion from all sorts of companies, big and small. When it comes to full size mobility vans small, low volume, independent companies that are local to the buyer convert most, possibly 90 percent. Those conversions are usually suitably good enough quality, although there is a big variance from one independent convertor to another. However, vans such as this, which have been converted by a volume company that has invested greatly into design, engineering and systems and procedures, produces a mobility van of noticeably higher quality than the small, local, independent shops. This surely does not mean that those 90% of vans that are not built by the large companies are bad vans, not at all, however...a van like this one stands above those independently converted vans. Plus, Nor-Cal is the only company that has a 10 inch lowered floor available. Here is a summary of the mobility features of this van:

* Deeply lowered floor: extends all the way from in front of the rear seat, all the way to below the dash area. Because of this extra-special floor, this van is called a NorCal MAX. MAX refers to the fact that the standard lowered floor is lowered 4 or 6 inches, whereas this one is lowered a whopping 10 inches! This very deeply lowered floor creates a super amount of entry clearance and interior headroom, without the need for a tall roof. In this case, you get the best of both worlds. Because, you have only a few inches less interior headroom than a van with an added tall roof and the same entry clearance as a tall roof van that has what are called tall doors. However, this van usually can go places that the tall roof vans cant, such as: drive-thru restaurants; parking garages; carports; carwashes; etc. For some folks, these are MAJOR advantages (or necessities) of not having a tall roof.

* Additional benefits of no tall roof are: better handling; more MPG; less wind buffeting; quieter; sturdier; less weight.

* Both front seats are removable: therefore, if a person wants or needs to drive from a wheelchair or park one in the front passenger area, this van accommodates

* Power swinging side doors: these doors open with power arms, which are an important part of the complete package that allows some folks in wheelchairs the ability to load/unload and drive themselves fully independent of any assistance form another person.

* Best lift ever...UVL: this van has what I consider to be my favorite piece of mobility equipment ever created. This UVL (under vehicle lift) is so amazing and wonderful to live with, for several reasons: stows fully under the van and so there is zero impedance or blockage of the entry/exit to the side of the van; has 800 pound capacity, which far exceeds the norm for other style lifts, which is usually 600 lbs; because it is not inside the van when driving, there are no rattles or squeaks to be heard when driving, as there usually is with other style of lifts.

* Wireless remote operation: there is no need to use switches (although they are provided as well) as you can operate the side doors and lift with a wireless remote control

Certified

This vehicle is 'Certified': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis Certification process. A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists. The result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects meets or exceeds the condition level of good, or satisfactory.

For details regarding list of 76 cosmetic and mechanical aspects, please

Each van does of course have various elements which exceed the promised level of good or satisfactory, which the Certified program assures. Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic. I refer to these as NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS

Carfax Report Summary

(Carfax is a widely used database which indicates the history of a vehicle including accidents, prior owners, etc.)

Carfax states it's a one-owner. Has never even had anything as minor as a fender-bender. Most folks would consider this to be an absolutely ideal Carfax.

You Might Like To Know...

* Over the decades that vans and trucks have been produced, manufacturers have figured out how to have even the heavy-duty models such as this one-ton ride and handle quite well. This van has the ride quality and handling similar to a half ton of only apx. 10 years earlier. However, its heavy-duty features make it extra-durable and the most capable of any passenger van levels.

Summary of this Gem

This one-owner beauty is one of the most amazing vans I have had the great pleasure of offering. As you have read above, there is a very long list of reasons why this is an absolutely special and fantastic van. A super cool fact is that when you drive down the road in this, it looks, feels and functions nearly the same as a brand new one, at a price that is about 40% of the cost of a new one... but it looks, feels and functions awesome. Plus, given that Ford full size vans such as this routinely go 200-300 thousand miles without need for major repairs, this van is expected to have a very long life expectancy.
